How's Your Anxiety?

August 25, 2021

A couple of weeks ago I challenged you to focus on results-driven goals. Remember, without clear goals to motivate us and to direct us, oftentimes we feel unsure of our purpose and we feel frustrated.

But there's actually more to it than simply feeling frustrated. What impact does long-term frustration have on your overall health and well-being?

Think of it this way...

❌ When you have unclear goals/expectations, most of the time you experience some type of anxiety.

❌ If your goals are blocked (for either personal, internal or external reasons), you may start to feel angry.

❌ And if your goals and expectations seem un-doable, very often depression can start to set in.

So, yes, we need CLEAR and ACHIEVABLE goals to motivate us and direct us. If you are experiencing any (or all) of these frustrations within your job (or anywhere else), take some time to write down some specific goals and expectations. Then, figure out what you know and what is unclear. From there, work through any of the barriers that are blocking you or causing you to be unable to achieve each goal. Then you can start to see a plan forming on how to overcome these obstacles.

If that doesn't work, you may want to evaluate the goal itself. Is it reasonable? Is it something you have control of? Is there a better goal?
