Have you ever wanted to do something? Something you feel called to do yet somehow you never end up doing it?
I’ve had something I’ve wanted to do for years but the excuses kept on rolling in.
I need to get my first book finished. It has been a goal of mine every year for the past three years. Yet here I am, approaching the end of 2021 without a lot of progress under my belt. I was starting to resolve that maybe 2022 could be my year.
But last week was the moment of truth. I had to decide whether I was going to punt another year or take big action to get it finished this year.
Conclusion: I can't go another year. Not anymore. It's time to take real action.
I hired a writing coach last week and he has committed to guide and help me finish the process by the end of the year.
I've told myself I've been getting ready to write a book for a long time.
The truth is, I was only getting ready to get ready.
Getting ready to get ready = having a desire to finish a book this year
Getting ready actually requires action. Mine was hiring my coach.
The actual work is happening now during and in between our sessions.
It feels good to finally be on track.
It reminds of the old fable: "5 frogs are sitting on a log and one decides to jump off...How many are left?"
The correct answer is 5.
Deciding to jump and actually doing it are two different things.
What will it take for you to jump today?
What could you accomplish by the end of the year if you do?
