How to Maximize Your Last

Week of the Year

December 24, 2015

What are you doing this week? Many people have taken time off to enjoy some holiday down time. Others plan to “catch up” or “get ahead” in the office.

I want to share a John Maxwell Team tip that will give you what may be your most productive and energizing holiday “down” week yet . It will also give you clarity and confidence heading into the new year.

Practice your ACTs!

Set aside a full day to complete a “year in review” by evaluating what you ACCOMPLISHED, what you need to CELEBRATE and what you need to TWEAK for 2016.

Accomplished:

Make a list of things you accomplished in 2015 that moved you forward in your life and leadership. Start by reviewing your calendar and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are making progress toward your growth and goals. Give yourself permission to feel good about what you completed.

Celebrate:

Nothing improves our mindset quicker than focusing on the things we have to be grateful and thankful for. Celebrate everything good in your life – big and small. This can be combination of things from your accomplishment list as well as other blessings. Again, write it down.

Tweak:

Spend some time thinking about what you would like to do differently next year. The Law of Priorities states that effective leaders understand that activity is not necessarily accomplishment. Evaluate what kept you busy yet produced few results against what you did that was most productive.

Spend time prioritizing into your schedule what will yield meaningful results and prioritizing out of your schedule what won’t.  Begin placing your priorities on your 2016 calendar to protect the time in advance.

I hope you find this helpful. Remember, the most productive people and the most unproductive people are given the same quantity of hours in a day – 24. It’s how they prioritize their time that makes all the difference.
